All our babies have moved into their new forever homes now. It was a sad day when we put our last two pups Luna and Sally on the plane to their new homes. I was frantic as they had a very long flight. I organised for a rest stop half way where the lovely people at the airport took them out for a run and a drink. Of course they were fussed and pampered before being sent on their next flight to where their new parents waited anxiously for their arrival. I was sent pictures and updates through out their trip for which I was extremely grateful.
Even though I knew they would be OK, there is always that little sense if insecurity until they reach their final destination. This is even more so when the trip is as long as that. Due to that, I was even more vigilant with the training of the puppies. I set up a crate similar to the one they would be transported in and placed them daily into the crate and taking them for trips in the car gradually extending the time until they were no longer afraid of the crate. I found one of the puppies was prone to travel sickness so treated her with extra care and more frequent trips to get her used to the journey. I found placing a few drops pf lavender oil in her crate helped her anxiety. After two weeks of this training she was able to take longer and longer trips without becoming ill, so a good tip to any who find their pets are prone to anxiety and travel sickness.
